Laura Jens-Smith has been Riverhead Town Supervisor since 2018 and is notably the first woman to hold this office in Riverhead's history.
Laura was raised in Port Jefferson Station and attended Comsewogue High School; she received her Associates Degree at Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing. Upon graduation, Laura began working as a staff nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit at Beth Israel Medical Center. While working as a nurse, Laura returned to school and received her Bachelors degree from Pace University. After five years as School Board Trustee, she was elected School Board President and served for two years before stepping down to become Supervisor of Riverhead.
Laura is married to her husband Robert M. Smith and they have been blessed to have two wonderful children, Molly and Ethan.
